Lead Teachers
|
Jessie L. (ERYT-500) has been a student of movement her whole life. She was a competitive dancer in her youth and has been a student of yoga ever since she left the world of dance. Jessie has been dedicated to a daily yoga practice for the past ten (10) years. As a graduate from the University of Michigan and the University of Cambridge with degrees in Archaeology, Art History, & Heritage and Museum Management - she brings a unique passion for intangible cultural heritage and academic perspective to the training. Jessie has taught over fifteen thousand (15,000) hours of yoga in the greater Detroit Area, Las Vegas, New York, London, Beirut, and Zurich. She specializes in Ashtanga, Chair & Geriatric Yoga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Specialty Workshops (Arm Balances, Contortions, and Inversions). Jessie has ample experience teaching outside of the yoga world - working as a Graduate Student Instructor and Visiting Scholar at the University of Michigan and various museums (including the DIA). She has several published works and co-authored the teacher training manual with Amanda T. (content creator for this training). Jessie opened aUM Yoga eight (8) years ago and is excited to bring this training to the students who have been with her during this journey. Qualifications & Certifications: University of Michigan: BA, University of Cambridge: MA, E-RYT 500 (several certifications), Thai Massage Levels 1 & 11 (ITM certified), & AAIMT Medical & Sports Massage, Personal Training, and Nutrition Consulting, Lululemon Ambassador.
Chelsea F. (ERYT-200) has been a student of yoga for over ten (10) years. She started teaching yoga in the Fall of 2017, and has taught a variety of modalities in a variety of locations around Ann Arbor. Chelsea loves to try new things, think more deeply about alignment and philosophy, ask questions, and learn together! Her classes are generally flow based, with a focus on building breath and alignment principles, offering modifications to allow every student to reach their fullest expression. Off the mat, Chelsea has received degrees in Psychology, International Studies, and Elementary Education. She is currently a 4th Grade teacher in the Ann Arbor area. We are an accredited 200-Hour program with the Yoga Alliance and our academic curriculum exceeds industry standards. Your certification will be internationally recognized and accepted. Throughout the training yogis will engage with highly qualified instructors with wide ranging experiences (who have certified over 250 yogis) - receiving higher student teacher ratios than any other program offered in the Ann Arbor area. Students will receive more practicum and teaching hours than the Yoga Alliance standard. Yogis will embark together on this impactful journey with the love and full support of the aUM Yoga community.
