As a long time member of aUM, the teacher training was a big step in my development as a practitioner. The summer intensive was meaningful and had the adherence an instructor should be proud of. I finished the training with the confidence of a teacher and an abundance of new awareness as a yogi. I still use what I have learned everyday, in and out of my yoga practice. I credit this with the balance between Jessie and Amanda's teaching and mentoring styles. It was a truly transformative experience at aUM that I would recommend to any yogi. - Abagail Breidenstein, Yoga Alliance Reviews
"Jessie and Chelsea do a great job of making the content relatable and easily to digest! I always felt comfortable making mistakes and asking questions and that really helped my learning process. I also appreciate that at the end of the program, I have a lot of materials and content I can use and refer back to as a new teacher." -Julia Ganganithi , Yoga Alliance Reviews (Winter 2024)
"Jessie and Chelsea are WONDERFUL teachers and it was a pleasure to complete my YTT with them and aUM. They created such a great space to learn and grow. They encouraged not only the development of my practice but also the trial and error process necessary in order to gain the skills I needed to become a successful yoga instructor. The amount of online resources provided was incredible, and I will continue referencing them in the future. I love aUM!!" -Michelle Wu, Yoga Alliance Reviews (Spring/Summer 2023)
"Having been a practitioner at AUM for several years, YTT was always in the back of my mind as something I was interested in. When I finally decided the time was right to delve into my practice with YTT, I wasn’t sure what to expect or what I was getting into. I can honestly say it was one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences. I am so glad I invested in myself and my well-being with this YTT, and Jessie and Chelsea demonstrated a commitment and investment in me as well, which I felt with every meeting and will be eternally grateful for. My practice has really grown tremendously, and I am so excited to be able to share this passion with others! I can’t recommend this YTT enough." -Briana Scott, Facebook Reviews (Spring/Summer 2023)
"I am very happy to have found and completed my teacher training with aUM yoga. From day one, I have felt welcomed by the studio and the program, which made for a very pleasant teacher training experience. The program prioritizes providing us with information on how to make sure we are teaching inclusive, progressive, understandable yoga with a focus on anatomical cuing. In addition to learning about anatomy, we learn a lot about the philosophy and the history of yoga itself. Both are important to me as a future yoga teacher and I feel like I am coming out of YTT with a quite well rounded knowledge base of the practice! The program was challenging, rewarding, and everything I could’ve hope to get out of teacher training and more. If you are thinking about completing a YTT program, I couldn’t recommend aUM yoga enough." -Macy Morrow, Facebook Reviews (Spring 2022)

"I am thoroughly impressed with the Virtual Yoga Teacher Training led by Jessie Lipkowitz and her team (Chelsea and Gabby!!). I registered for Spring YTT 2020 one week before the coronavirus pandemic caused the lockdown in Michigan. Immediately, the teacher training was reinvented to become virtual. With the uncertainty of the situation, there was room for error and likelihood that things wouldn’t play out smoothly. But Jessie Lipkowitz does not miss a trip. Her team worked tirelessly to quickly and accurately create an entire teaching training program online. The syllabus was clear, materials easily accessible, and any changes were communicated immediately to the cohort. The virtual community created in YTT was just as strong as it would have been in person. By the end of the training, I felt incredibly confident in my ability to design and teach a yoga class of any form: vinyasa, hatha, ashtanga, and chair. Resources and information were also provided on navigating the yoga teaching world during the coronavirus. This virtual teacher training could not have gone better. The resilience and adaptability of Jessie and her team proves that aUM Yoga Ann Arbor is the top studio to complete the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. This is a great program that is 100% worth the investment."-Catie Kobetis, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2020)

"I just completed my Yoga Teacher Training with aUM's spring virtual session. I don't know where to even begin at how grateful I am to the experience, the knowledge I received, and the community I've been graced with. Starting the YTT, I came in as an absolute beginner. In my own mind, I was overwhelmed by that fact. But the program was structured in a way that was so accessible and intriguing to me even at an "absolute beginner" level and I think that is important to point out. That ... anyone and "Every Body" can do it. From this experience, not only do I feel that I am fully capable of moving forward and teaching yoga after completion but I've gained a new path to explore in life and mindset. I am very grateful for aUM's staff and their support through this journey and I am excited for my own personal growth moving forward." -Lindy Lee, Google Reviews (Spring 2020)

Every aspect of the training and experience exceeded my expectations and I really cannot say enough amazing things about it! I was slightly hesitant to apply for this training since I had never taken a yoga class with aUM, but after talking to Jessie (the studio’s owner), I was immediately put at ease and felt that I was a part of the aUM family. Her passion for what she does is infectious and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to find a more professional, dedicated and compassionate team to learn from. Jessie, Chelsea and Gabby are amazing instructors - they are immensely knowledgeable, approachable and deeply invested in each student's personal growth. Even though the training was 100% online, I couldn’t have asked for anything more - everything was broken down and explained inside and out and the instructors were extremely well organized, and always available for extra support through regularly scheduled office hours or via phone/FaceTime. Over the course of the program, I learned more about yoga history, human anatomy, yoga philosophy, and teaching techniques than I could have ever imagined and I feel 100% prepared and confident in my ability to teach a class (Hatha, Ashtanga or Vinyasa) on my own. Additionally, I was given so much individualized teaching guidance and constructive feedback which helped me grow as a person both on and off my mat. "Yoga Teacher Training at aUM Yoga is an experience I would recommend to anyone. I was hesitant to enroll since I come from a long-distance running background. My tight hamstrings and hip flexors prevent me from perfectly executing poses such as Dancer or Dancing Shiva. I soon learned that yoga is truly for everybody. What I enjoyed most was Amanda and Jessie's unique, holistic approach to yoga. There was an equal focus on both flexibility and strength training. As a yoga teacher, it will be common to be leading a class with individuals who have injuries, conditions, or tight muscles. aUM gives their teachers in training a tremendous amount of resources and knowledge to lead interesting, beneficial yoga classes for every type of student. By the end of the training, each teacher in my cohort was able to construct and lead a well-thought-out yoga class. Along with teaching knowledge, Amanda and Jessie foster a close, caring community. It was the highlight of my day to see everyone in my teacher training cohort. The only downside of teacher training was when it ended. I am excited to take all that I have learned from yoga teacher training to Chicago." -Emily Kobetis, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2019)
"aUM's teacher training was a fantastic experience. Jessie and Amanda have created a very thoughtful, holistic, and welcoming program. "Enrolling in YTT at aUM was the best decision I ever made. It helped me to step fully into my confidence and my body. YTT at aUM is based in compassion, inclusivity, accessibility, empathy, equanimity, and mindfulness. Stepping into this training feels like a hug and a "welcome home." The training is a transformation-not only did I learn about how to be an inclusive and mindful yoga teacher for students, but I learned about how to give myself that same compassion. We learned all about the body, mind, and soul through books and group discussion. YTT at aUM was always a safe space for incredibly raw group discussions, where I felt like I could always fully speak my truth about various topics like Asmita (ego) and how I experience it in my life. It is a no-judgment training, which is really special. My fellow teachers in training quickly became my lifelong friends. I am so grateful for them and for Amanda and Jessie. We learned how to foster a safe space for all folks to practice yoga. A YTT certificate from aUM stands out for this reason. I remember teaching my first real yoga class at the end of teacher training and feeling overwhelmingly inspired by the growth in myself and by the room full of students breathing together. I feel confident in myself to now be able to go out and teach a yoga class to someone in a way that would make them feel welcome, empowered, strong, and inspired to come back to my class. I am forever grateful for all of the ways YTT at AUM empowered me and helped me grow." -Sara Ramaswamy, Facebook Reviews (Winter 2019)

"I want to express my gratitude to Jessie and Amanda for the incredible impact they've had on my life and yoga practice! I'm studying abroad in Spain for the summer and I just attended a yoga class taught entirely in Spanish. I never would've had the courage to do that if it weren't for YTT and their amazing support and encouragement. It's incredible how yoga transcends language barriers and brings people together in every region of the world. Even without understanding the Spanish, I was able to pick up the Sanskrit and anticipate the sequence of the class." -Lucy Xu, Facebook Reviews (Winter 2019)

Together, they cultivated this incredible "yoga family" atmosphere that welcomed discussion, questions, and vulnerability. The course load was heavily anatomy driven which was very interesting as a student in the health care field. This aspect of the training was also very well balanced with the history and philosophies of yoga. The curriculum gave a great foundation with which to begin teaching yoga. "About a week after the last time my YTT group meet I was diagnosed with stage 3 borderline ovarian cancer. They found the tumors during my CT scan for kidney donation, so I’m very lucky I wanted to donate my kidney. The good news is I’m fine now! It was very non-aggressive so I just needed surgery in January, no chemo or radiation. It was very stressful though so I didn’t tell many people. I just want to say how appreciative I am that aUM Yoga taught modifications that make yoga accessible to everyone. I had never had any serious injuries before, and have always been pretty athletic. After surgery there was a lot I couldn’t do (I still can’t really do backbends), but I felt like I knew how to modify many poses so that I could do yoga when I was finally able to exercise again. I think I learned a lot about what yoga really is, as an internal and external journey through this experience, and I definitely couldn’t have done it without aUM's teaching." -Miranda Weismantel, Facebook (Fall 2017)
"The aUM Yoga Teacher Training Spring Intensive was a great experience. Jessie and Amanda are both very knowledgable and excited to spread that knowledge to others. They were encouraging and helpful and made me feel comfortable with my ability to create a safe, strong vinyasa class." -Lil Seeley, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2017)
"Finding aUM was one of the best things to happen in my undergraduate career. I am so appreciative of the positivity that radiates from this yoga community. Not only are the instructors welcoming, but also the wide variety of classes leave me feeling energized and relaxed every time I leave the studio. There really is a class for every type of work out you are trying to achieve. Also, I highly recommend the Demystify Yoga Teacher Training program! Completing this comprehensive training in Spring 2017 advanced my knowledge on leading a safe, energetically-intelligent yoga practice". -Alexandra Jankulov, Facebook (Spring 2017)
"I had an incredible experience participating in aUM’s DYTT program. I learned more than I ever imagined I would. My physical yoga practice improved, I developed a thorough understanding of anatomy, I became aware of the origins and philosophy of yoga, and I cultivated the necessary skills to teach my own yoga classes. aUM provides the perfect balance among the various aspects of yoga. Through (lots and lots) of yoga, reading, lectures, and discussions, and countless hours of practice teaching, I came out of teacher training confident in my understanding of yoga and my ability to teach a yoga class. I cultivated the necessary skills to teach a yoga class that combines both anatomy and yoga philosophy to ensure my students have an authentic, safe practice. Through training, I also got to join an amazing community of yogis and made some incredible friends. Each and every day of training, Jessie and Amanda shared their passion for yoga and inspired me to strive to develop further as both a student and teacher of yoga. I’m honored to have participated in my teacher training at aUM. Going into training, I knew I wanted to teach yoga, but I didn’t realize how much I would develop as both a student and teacher. I recommend anyone excited about the possibility of deepening their practice and understanding of yoga participate in aUM’s DYTT program, regardless of whether or not teaching is the end goal. It’s a truly inspiring experience, and it has benefited me in so many additional ways beyond providing me with my newfound ability to teach yoga." -Katie Ehlers, Facebook (Fall 2016)
"Yoga teacher training with Jessie Lipkowitz and Amanda Topping at aUM yoga studio in Ann Arbor was one of the best experiences of my life. I was new to the school and new-ish to yoga, so naturally, I was incredibly nervous to call and inquire about the program. But after two minutes of talking to Jessie over the phone, I felt like I had already found a place where I would be welcomed, accepted, and taken on an incredible journey. I was right. aUM and their teacher training was amazing. It was hard work, don't get me wrong, but every single person in their class was supported and helped along the way by both lead teachers. Amanda and Jessie put their heart and soul into their yoga, their training program, and into their daily lives, and I just can't say enough about how wonderful they are. I suffered from a bad spinal injury two years prior, and wanted to bring the relief that I discovered through yoga to other people with similar issues. Although I will never be able to back bend or fold like many other yogis because of this injury, I was never once made to feel weak or less than anyone else. In fact, I was celebrated often for my accomplishments and made to feel strong- something I hadn't felt in a very long time. I still struggle with back pain and injury-related issues from time to time, but Jessie and Amanda helped me discover an inner strength I never knew I had. If you are looking for a yoga studio to attend, I cannot say enough about aUM and the wonderful community there. Not to mention, if you attend aUM yoga teacher training, you will find incredible peace, strength, and happiness. Namaste" -Angela Laginess, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2016)
"aUM Yoga Teacher Training changed my practice and my life in so many ways. The lead teachers are one of a kind, honest, and absolutely born to be teachers" -Allison Lang, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2016)
"aUM yoga is very professional and comprehensive - I really feel it was the best choice for me and really prepared me to be a yoga teacher. They took it very seriously and made sure we all fully understood the anatomy, ethics, and what makes for a good yoga teacher. Highly recommended to anyone seeking a teacher training program"-April Lark, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Spring 2016)
"aUM is a welcoming community to yogis of all levels. I started practicing here (as a beginner--couldn't even touch my toes) about three years ago and this summer I completed my teacher training in the 200 hour intensive. I can not imagine myself at any other studio. The teachers here are all so different and special in their own ways and I encourage students to experiment and explore all of the classes to find which one fits best. I spent my first two years getting my butt kicked in 'F*** this is Hard' power vinyasa with Jessie L and Jess S, but I recently found Amanda Toppings Slow Flow class is just as much of a work out, in its own special yoga way. But, every teacher here is great and all of them have so much knowledge and positive energy to offer! Having completed my 200 RYT at AUM, I would highly recommend the program to anyone interested in developing a deeper practice. The program is as academic as it is physically challenging. It is about as much of a time commitment as a 4 credit class because it is so comprehensive. If you're interested in learning more about yourself, your practice, and the history and philosophy of yoga this is the place to do it."-Alyssa Paskow, Facebook (Spring 2016)
"The teacher training program is worth while as it is a full experience and hearty curriculum that is practical and intriguing. I highly recommend this specific teacher training program if you want more than just a piece of paper at the end, but a one of a kind experience that leaves you feeling knowledgeable, confident, and inspired to share what you have learned." -Alexis Turner, Facebook (Winter 2016)
"If you're looking for an accepting community in which you'll grow, learn, and flourish - aUM Yoga is the place! A lot of UM students attend this studio, but anyone can take a class who is looking to deepen their practice, and find some inner peace. I found aUM through the teacher training program, which I highly recommend for serious yogis who'd like to share their practice with the world! Also - shout out to the owner Jessie, for somehow maintaining a pleasant aroma throughout the studio, despite the hot, sweaty, awesome yoga." -Marissa Kurtzhals, Facebook (Winter 2016)
"I take regular classes at aUM and recently completed their winter semester teacher training. I highly recommend aUM. The space is calming yet still fierce. The teachers are always prepared and easy to talk if you have questions. The classes range from so hard you will be soaked through your t-shirt (any yoga ABC class) to slower more restorative classes (Yin). There is something for every level and every class can be as hard or as easy as you want. Their teacher training was also great. Jessie and Amanda were phenomenal teachers. The contrast between the two (Jessie=power yoga, Amanda= more restorative/traditional yoga) provided a breath of knowledge and also made the program attract a range of yogis. The program not only taught me the theory behind yoga, how to cue postures, and A LOT of anatomy, but also helped me deepen my own personal practice. I wouldn't have wanted to do my teacher training with anyone else. If you are at all interested in doing teacher training talk to Jessie about it or if you have any questions about the teacher in training experience feel free to message me" -Liz Oliphant, Facebook (Winter 2016)
"aUM yoga not only facilitates a program that elevates your personal practice and teaching abilities, but also cultivates a sense of community that improves your life on and off the mat." -Christina Morse, Yoga Alliance School Reviews (Winter 2016)
"aUM Yoga is everything I would hope for in a Yoga studio. The space is beautiful. The instructors are fun, knowledgeable, enthusiastic. There's an excellent variety of classes to match any person's skill level (if you're a beginner, reach out to them for a recommendation on where to start). There's a great sense of community aided by the constant efforts and kindness of Jessie L (the studio's owner). When I reached out to Jessie and expressed an interest in aUM's teacher training program, she was immediately responsive, very positive, and made me feel like I belonged there. She was also accommodating in helping me figure out a payment plan that would allow me to attend. The training itself was one of the best experiences of my life, with a lot of wonderful people and expert instruction from Jessie and Amanda Topping. Between the two of them, they provide an exceptional balance of teaching styles and yoga knowledge that makes you feel like you're really getting a full spectrum education. I am truly grateful to them and the entire aUM staff/community and look forward to practicing there in the future." -Mike Moriarty, Facebook (Winter 2016)
